Four Months Later
In the last four months, Myah has had so much fun. At 13 months, she began walking. While still not ultra-stable, she runs right along with her sister with a monkey-see monkey-do zest. Right now, she is into books. She cries for a book first thing in the morning. She just loves our time together pointing to the sun, clouds, frogs, birds, bees, etc. on the pages of books. She gets books and brings them to me constantly. She is saying more words now that I can count and mimicking new words every day. Unbrella is "bella" and Kitty is "meow" and Drink is "oke" (no sure how that one happened, but oh, well....). Everything she says sounds like a question with her voice going up at the end of each word. It keeps me laughing. She loves her sister and while sometimes there are tugging matches over a toy or a sippy cup, for the most part, the two get along beautifully. Here are some more recent pictures of my baby - er - smallest toddler.

Laughter at Lunch
At lunch yesterday afternoon, she made me laugh so hard. Not sure that I got the best of it on camera, but this is pretty good stuff. Turn it up loud because it's all in the audio... I like the grunt she does as she sits up closer to the table to put her hands on the table. You'll see....

First Step and First Word
Each baby's first step and first word are so memorable. You want to savor each one and celebrate over the unique joy that each one provides... Except for when they say take their first step and say their first word both within a couple of minutes from each other - as was the case with our Myah Michelle.
We were at my friend Pam's house last Wednesday evening, March 31st (one day before Myah turned 11 months old). Pam had 10 or so Yorkie puppies there - each no more than about 4 pounds. They surrounded Myah and she was mesmerized at them. We kept saying, "Look at the puppies, Myah! Aren't they cute?" And what do you think was her first word? Yep, you guessed it..."Pup." She said it repeatedly that evening and every time since accompanied by a big grin when I ask her if she wants to go back to Pam's to see the puppies.
And if that wasn't enough for one evening, a few moments later, Pam was holding Myah by the hips a few feet away from me. Pam let go, Myah stood there on her own for a second (a rare occurrence that we'd caught by chance only two or three times previously) and then took a step towards me all on her own! Her second step turned into a sit on the floor, but Don and I and Pam and Pam's mom, grandma and brother all saw Myah's unmistakable first step.
Myah has a wonderful personality that is coming out more and more each day. I can't wait to hear her talk more so that I can find out a bit more of what is going on inside that little head. I have a feeling that it's going to make me laugh so hard. :-)

Standing Teeth Brushing Tickling
Myah has come a long way in the last month. She crawls faster. She pulls herself up onto anything and everything and stands there quite comfortably - often times now holding on with only one arm. She has even begun cruising a bit around the couch. In large part, she is a very serious baby and always busy working on something. She's not your happy-go-lucky baby, but quite analytical and just plain serious. It's sometimes a bit of work to get her to smile, but when she does, she lights up the room. Of course, tickling always gets a smile and she always smiles when she's standing because, I think, she's just so proud of her new talent.
I'm teaching her to brush the abundance of teeth that have all of a sudden decided to come in. It started with her two top canine's coming in. She looked like a cute little baby vampire for about a week and a half. Then, all of a sudden, in come the middle two. It's caused her mouth to hurt a bit in the last weeks, so that's been a little tough. She takes the Children's Tylenol ok, but absolutely HATES the Baby Oragel. It takes two of us to put it on her and she gets so mad at us....until about 30 seconds later when she realizes that her teeth no longer hurt.
Check out the standing and the teeth and the brushing and the tickling below (actually in that order...). One picture is half covered by my thumb, but that one really shows how the teeth have just barely come through the gums and are definately not full size yet.
